Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) is a globally recognized risk management system that systematically manages chemical, physical, and biological hazards in the manufacturing process. Our meticulous approach to product manufacture, from initial development to sale, ensures that only products that meet our high standards are sold.

As a current UMF license holder (license number 1053), New Zealand Health Food Company is an active participant and supporter of the natural products industry in New Zealand. We produce our premium quality range of UMF Manuka honey products and supply the same to international partners.

The UMF rating is a unique quality testing method that ensures the honey we sell is 100% pure New Zealand UMF Manuka honey. To get a UMF rating on honey involves a four-factor quality testing process that includes:

1. MGO for Potency: Methylglyoxal (MGO) measures the antibacterial properties of Manuka honey. Higher MGO levels indicate stronger potency, ensuring the honey's special activity.
2. Leptosperin for Authenticity: Found only in Manuka flower nectar, Leptosperin ensures the honey's authenticity. Its content also has anti-inflammatory properties that grow with the UMF™ scale.
3. DHA for Shelf Life: Dihydroxyacetone (DHA) extends the life of MGO in Manuka honey. UMF™ certified honey must have more than 70 mg/kg DHA.
4. HMF for Freshness: Hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) testing assures the honey's freshness, confirming it has not been overheated or stored too long, maintaining its unique properties.

All of our New Zealand Manuka Honey is Halal certified, reflecting our commitment to catering to diverse dietary needs. The Federation of Islamic Associations of New Zealand (FIANZ) is responsible for this certification, ensuring that our products adhere to Islamic dietary laws.

FIANZ is an umbrella organization that represents the Muslim community in New Zealand. It provides Halal certification to products that meet specific criteria, including the sourcing of ingredients, preparation, processing, and packaging. This certification ensures that our Manuka Honey is prepared following Islamic principles, making it suitable for consumption by our Muslim customers.

Products with the Fernmark Licence Number are products manufactured in New Zealand and/or made purely from New Zealand-sourced ingredients.

The FernMark, as a trademark officially recognised and endorsed by the New Zealand Government, is a mark of trust that communicates a product's country of origin and connection to New Zealand. Carrying the FernMark on a product, together with a unique Licence number, makes it easy for consumers to verify its authenticity.
