Help stop your Christmas issues!
I have been asked lately how to manage the over indulgence that often happens at this time of the year. As someone who really enjoys food but knows the pitfalls of what food can do to the body, it’s a tricky question to have an answer to.
For some it might be that they are tracking well with their weight loss goals and don’t want to impact upon that goal. For others it might be that they know that certain foods play havoc on their digestive system, but they just can’t resist the temptation of yummy Christmas food. Whatever the reason, hopefully some of these idea’s can see you through the yummy Christmas feasts about to be had.
Problems with digestion – “I can’t handle rich foods….but I love them!”
Often people who say that cannot handle foods with cream, or that might be high in fat, complain of either re-flux type symptoms or bowel issues such as loose motions or constipation, or both. In general it indicates the whole digestive system needs support.
Organs that need support here include the stomach, liver, gallbladder and pancreas. Each of these play a pivotal role in making sure food is digested properly but how do you figure out easily what you might need?
Try taking a daily dose of Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar. This is perfect for assisting in good digestion, it helps to promote good digestive juice, and with the fermented culture still “alive” and in the bottle, will also promote good bacterial health in the gut. You can easily make dressings out of ACV, but also for those who don’t mind the taste, can have a quick teaspoon about 20 minutes before their main meal to get the digestive system working well.
I also love the Kiwiherb range of digestive products that help with digestion. These are perfect to take on the go with you so you can use as and when you need them.
They have a few different products that are helpful overall, but the key ones I like are:
Which is especially helpful for the reflux, heart burn situation.
Now I don’t normally suffer from digestive complaints, but sometimes when I go out I might get a bit of a abdominal bloating. This happened to me a few weeks ago, after I ate a salad from a salad bar. I was in absolute agony, So I took one teaspoon of this straight and within 20 minutes the pain was gone!
“I always get gout at Christmas!”
For those gout sufferers out there, Christmas can be a hard time to handle.
Foods and drinks that usually trigger gout include:
– Some meat
So reducing these foods is an absolute must! But if you still get an attack, try and of these product’s which seem to work quickly and well according to our trusty customer’s!
“I want to enjoy the day but I am worried about my weight goal!”
Okay… so you have worked really hard all year, well done you!
I say, for one day ENJOY yourself! That doesn’t mean to go all out and eat until your stuffed! You will probably find that because you have been working so hard on your weight you will naturally be a mindful eater, that is, being conscious about what you are eating and how.
What’s the old saying…everything in moderation?
Look even if you feel that you have over indulged, that’s fine! Just remember, food is to be enjoyed, not to have bad associations with. Food is a central part of Christmas so just take it easy on yourself, be mindful about how you are eating and remember that you can work on your weight loss goals post-Christmas.
Here are some idea’s on how to manage weight loss goals while enjoying Christmas:
– Morlife Hoodia Trim Tea
“I am away camping and want to boost my nutrient intake”
Well this is easy, and one of my favourite go-to-supplements. The Nuzest Good Green Stuff is easy to have while you are on holiday. You can use them by sachet or just take away a wee tub of it.
All you need is 1-2tsp (or one sachet) and you have an instant hit of super foods, all your vitamins and minerals as well as herbs for relaxing and digestion.
Use this throughout the Christmas to help give you extra energy (for those slightly hungover days…) and because it has a whole load of awesome antioxidants it will help support your liver through the food and drink season!
